Heffler Gives Back to Turning Points for Children This Holiday Season

This holiday season Heffler is supporting  Turning Points for Children, the leading social service agency in Philadelphia supporting the needs of more than 10,000 men, women, and children throughout the city. Heffler is collecting donations for some of the older youth who are phasing out of the Foster Care system and are often left out when Turning Point receives holiday present donations since most gifts are geared toward younger children.

These young adults, who range between the ages of 16 and 21, are aging out of foster care and will be on their own. For most American young adults this can be an exciting time, but for more than 20,000 young adults in this country, turning 18 or 21 is not a celebratory event. Depending on the state in which they live, young adults in foster care “age out” of the system, meaning they must leave Foster Care because they were never adopted and are too old to stay in care. To learn more about the young adults who age out of the system, please read this article.

Heffler employees have raised over $1,000 with our “Jeans for a Cause” initiative, which asks employees to make a small donation when wearing jeans each Friday through the year. This holiday season, Heffler partnered with Turning Points for Children in both November and December to make sure Philadelphia’s young adults feel supported and stable during this holiday season, and as they enter a new year.

Heffler believes these young people should feel valued and supported this holiday season and we hope you will join us by donating a gift to help them succeed before they age out of care. If you’d like to join Heffler in supporting these young men and women, please visit the Turning Points for Children website.
