Michael Horsey, CPA, Chairman and CEO of Horsey, Buckner & Heffler, LLP (HBH), has been recognized as the 2018 MBE Advocate of the Year by the Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council (EMSDC). The award recognizes Michael’s body of work as a professional and a community leader and reflects his service to the growth and sustainability of minority businesses.
HBH is a minority-controlled accounting firm and Heffler, Radetich & Saitta affiliate. The firm was created in 2017 and combines the knowledge and service of its leadership to boost minority-owned businesses and create a supportive environment. Michael has over 40 years of experience in audit, taxation and financial analysis with a focus on serving not-for-profit organizations, state and local government agencies, and private clients.
“I’m honored and humbled to be named the EMSDC’s 2018 MBE Advocate of the year,” Michael said. “EMSDC’s mission is near and dear to my heart and is in support of much of my life’s work. I’m so proud to be affiliated with such a fine organization and its members and will work to continually improve the growth and sustainability of diversity through Horsey, Buckner & Heffler.”
Michael currently serves on the Board of the African America Museum of Philadelphia; the Avenue of the Arts, Inc.; Mu Omega Foundation; the Black Women in Sports Foundation; and the Ivy Legacy Foundation. He previously served on the Board of the Police Athletic League, the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, and the African American Chamber of Commerce.
The award was presented at the EMSDC Choice Awards Gala on Nov. 30, recognizing distinct award winners from across the region. Michael has been working with the EMSDC since its inception, beginning during his tenure as Managing Partner of the Philadelphia office of Mitchell & Titus.
